We believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.

We believe in one God, who is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the Savior of all who put their faith in Him alone for eternal life.
We believe that those who are made new in Christ are called to be holy in character and conduct, and can only live this way by being filled with the Lord’s Spirit. We believe in the Bible and its sufficiency to establish our faith and conduct. We believe God wills for people everywhere to know Him and be made new in Christ. We believe that the purpose of the Church is to worship God in spirit and in truth, and to reach a lost and fallen world with the gospel of Jesus Christ through its worship, witness, and loving deeds.

On March 24, 1921 Warren G. Harding was inaugurated as the 29th President of the United States. The country was in the middle of a depression just following World War I. Times were particularly difficult.
On May 26th of that year, the Conference President of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Rev. Edward M. Graham, appointed F. E. Shinn to engage in tent meetings in the district. Shinn lived in Kannapolis. Shinn began the Landis Wesleyan Methodist Church on June 19, 1921. He was holding tent meetings there. The Conference President (District Superintendent) Rev. Graham organized a new church there of 16 members. Rev. R. A. Weaver became the pastor of the Landis Church.
Rev. Shinn would continue his tent meetings, pushing out of Rowan County into Iredell County. In the fall of 1921, he held a successful series of tent meetings in the small community of Ostwalt, NC. Many souls were converted and the people realized the need to establish a church. These new converts met in an old store building until they could organize and begin the construction of a church. They prayed much over the matter, seeking God’s will. On November 21, 1921, Rev. Graham came here and established the Ostwalt Wesleyan Methodist Church. There were 13 charter members. Rev. Shinn was assigned as the pastor until District Conference, only three days away in Gastonia.
The first message preached to the church by Rev. Fred Shinn preached from Acts 10:29 “I ask therefore for what intent, you sent for me?”
